Electronics Systems Engineer

We at Tellus Power North America manufacture turn key EV charging solutions for white label, fleet, and private customer needs that meet all Buy America and NEVI regulatory requirements. Due to a new niche in the North American manufacturing market through recent Buy America legislative compliance requirements, Tellus Power North America is the first North American-based subsidiary assembly plant for Tellus Power Ltd (based in Hong Kong). Due to the start-up nature and fast-paced timeline of this regulatory compliance endeavor, we are seeking to build out a nimble, capable, and robust team for our new Irvine, CA location. 

Position Summary

This role is an exciting opportunity for a motivated electronics engineer interested in pioneering and improving the adolescent field of EV charging hardware and systems. We are looking for a self-motivated individual who is well-versed in electronic systems and their components, and as such is able to use that knowledge in order to act as a technical engineering liaison between our company and our China-based parent company and manufacturer. This individual will also assist in refining the manufacturing process, overseeing or performing product quality checks, and leading the development of testing methods of charging systems.

This role will be based in our new North American assembly plant. While this role is U.S.-based, an ability to communicate effectively with our Chinese counterpart will be absolutely integral to success in this position. As such, fluency in Mandarin is a requirement, as is fluency in related scientific and engineering terminology, processes, etc. The ability to cross-communicate these ideas and concepts effectively and accurately from English to Mandarin and vice versa cannot be understated.

Requirements and Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, required
• Fluent in both written and spoken Mandarin, required
• 1-2 years’ experience in an electrical engineering position, strongly preferred
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Robust understanding of electronic/electrical systems and relevant components
• High attention to detail that results in high accuracy and precision

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop and review product specifications for customers and internal distribution
• Develop and refine robust testing processes of EV charging systems, including the creation of new/novel methods that confirm the functionality of electrical systems and components
• Lead testing and product quality checks to ensure quality and consistency of production of electrical equipment
• Analyze manufacturing and assembly processes in order to provide feedback that will improve sub-assemblies, software, firmware, etc. at the Tellus manufacturing facility
• Supervise the manufacturing and installation of electrical systems, equipment, and components of production equipment relevant to the manufacturing process
• Train and supervise technicians and assemblers regarding relevant electrical systems
